This challenge required the use of a map and artist's choice of product, so I elected to use a #8 shipping tag.  I used the map for my background and added vintage wild west photos, washi tape, ribbon, mini staples, sharpie markers, Tiny Type cardstock letter stickers, and several wild west stamps from Stamp Club.

Altered Mousetrap 2

Here is my second altered mousetrap.

Here is a closer view of the top half of the trap. I used patterned paper, lots of vintage photos of children, buttons, and ribbon.

This close up view shows the bottom dangle hanging from the trap latch - beads from a necklace I got from an antique store, wire, and a locker tag that I picked up at a garage sale.
I also used the red tape to attach a ribbon so this piece could be hung.  This was a challenging project. I found the traps difficult to work with ,what with trying to apply thing s around all the trap mechanisms.

Altered Mousetrap 1

This swap was for the Yahoo Group Altered_stArt and we had to alter 2 mousetraps and send them out to two different partners. I used vintage images and ephemera to cover my mousetrap and the bait mechanism (couldn't figure out how to remove that piece although I have seen many samples on Goggle images where that piece is removed so I know it can be done). I used a piece of fishing tackle - a swivel hook to hang the coin charm from the bottom of the trap latch. I used terrifically tacky red tape to attache the red ribbon around the edges and tie at the top to create the hanger.

Skinny with a Map

Skinny card swap, 3x5, had to incorporate a map.  This map I got from a note pad that was made from goverment plat maps and recycled into to not pads. I found it at a resale shop like Goodwill - what a fun find!  I used vintage images and ephemera, washi tape, paper tape, graphic 45 tropical paper, and some bling.

Peg People - Bert and Ernie

Okay, now these could get addicting. This swap was for pairs or groups of peg people.  Size requirements were between 2" and 3".  The wooden pegs were easy to find at Michael's and Hobby Lobby (harder to find women shapes, finally found some at JoAnn Fabrics).  Paint with acrylic paints and paint markers, seal with matte or gloss medium.

Woodland Gathering Art Dolls

This swap was for the ATC's for All forum.  This swap was open and mixed media. This meant we could draw, paint, collage or sew.  Assemblage, mixed media, paper, fabric, clay, icicle, spirit and stump dolls were all acceptable.  The challenge was to create secret people of the forest.  I used a fiber wrapped method over a wire armature, a polymer clay push molded face, and finishing touches of felt, paper and ribbon flowers with silk leaves for wings to create my woodland fairy sprite type creatures.

Domino Art Challange

31 Days of Halloween
For this tag, I started with patterened scrapbook papers and paper tape. I used 3 dominoes, which I covered with alcohol inks and then stamped an image from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Halloween clear stamp set. I added die cuts from K and Company, and the trick or treat candy is a 3 dimensional sticker from Martha Stewart. I added crystal and pearl bling and covered the dominoes with Diamond Glaze. I coated the bottom die cut with sepia Glossy Accents and added Halloween printed ribbons through the hole of the tag.

Day of the Dead Prayer Flag 2

I love how this flag turned out - the colors and the balance, just a skull with marigolds, simple and clean.  I really like how the colors worked on the marigolds by edging each petal with a darker shade of orange -so striking!

Day of the Dead Prayer Flag 1

I used paint markers to draw and paint this dod themed flag. I painted on fabric that was 100% cotton.  I researched images and skulls were definitely going to be included in all the flags. For this flag decided to add candles, roses and marigolds.

Domino Art Challenge

31 Days of Halloween
I chose day 13, "lucky 13".   I used a domino and a Rumikub tile for this one. I used alcohol inks on my domino before stamping the spider web image from the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Halloween clear stamp set. I hand drew the spider and added purple bling to the body, then coated the whole thing with Diamond Glaze. I used Martha Stewart border stickers and epoxy stickers, she has a very nice "vintage feeling" line out this season and I was so pleased to see her new stuff. I added a mini clock to my Rumikub tile from Gray Burlin, and used Elmer's Painter's marker to color in the number 13 and added Diamond Glaze over the top for some shine. On my tag I used patterened scrapbook papers and washi tapes.  The "Happy Halloween" is a Martha Stewart die-cut and I used Stamping Up hardware to add ribbon to tthe top of the #8 tag.

Monster Halloween Bash ! Dotee

This dotee was created for a swap-bot challenge fo the Dotee's of All Kinds group. This dotee was to be inspired by a creepy monster that is ready to party. Spooky but fun, whimsical not gory. I decided to go with a mummy in a black tie. Glass e-beads for the tail and at the end of the tail a green glass with  the word Boo! on it.

"A Little Halloween" Dotee

This swap was a challenge from swap-bot with the dotee group called 12 Months of Dotee.  The challenge was to create a fun Halloween character using Halloween colors, trick or treaters, Halloween candy, jack-o-lanterns, etc... I decided to create a tricker treater dressed as a black cat. I used a sculpey push mold for the face and hand painted the facial features with acrylic paint. The tail is made of glass beads and the purple bead at the end of the tail has a black cat on in. I added an orange felt skirt and and orange Halloween ribbon around the neck. For the hanger I used a necklace that I picked up at a flea market and cut apart to harvest for beads.
