Altered Mousetrap 2

Here is my second altered mousetrap.

Here is a closer view of the top half of the trap. I used patterned paper, lots of vintage photos of children, buttons, and ribbon.

This close up view shows the bottom dangle hanging from the trap latch - beads from a necklace I got from an antique store, wire, and a locker tag that I picked up at a garage sale.
I also used the red tape to attach a ribbon so this piece could be hung.  This was a challenging project. I found the traps difficult to work with ,what with trying to apply thing s around all the trap mechanisms.

Altered Mousetrap 1

This swap was for the Yahoo Group Altered_stArt and we had to alter 2 mousetraps and send them out to two different partners. I used vintage images and ephemera to cover my mousetrap and the bait mechanism (couldn't figure out how to remove that piece although I have seen many samples on Goggle images where that piece is removed so I know it can be done). I used a piece of fishing tackle - a swivel hook to hang the coin charm from the bottom of the trap latch. I used terrifically tacky red tape to attache the red ribbon around the edges and tie at the top to create the hanger.

Skinny with a Map

Skinny card swap, 3x5, had to incorporate a map.  This map I got from a note pad that was made from goverment plat maps and recycled into to not pads. I found it at a resale shop like Goodwill - what a fun find!  I used vintage images and ephemera, washi tape, paper tape, graphic 45 tropical paper, and some bling.

Asian Beauty ATC's

This was an ATC's for All Forum swap - mixed media.  I used origami papers for the backgrounds, Asian images, stamps, and ephemera; outline stickers which I either backed with foiled papers or colored through with glaze and gel pens; washi tape, and some hand drawn designs using glaze pens.

Peg People - Bert and Ernie

Okay, now these could get addicting. This swap was for pairs or groups of peg people.  Size requirements were between 2" and 3".  The wooden pegs were easy to find at Michael's and Hobby Lobby (harder to find women shapes, finally found some at JoAnn Fabrics).  Paint with acrylic paints and paint markers, seal with matte or gloss medium.

Woodland Gathering Art Dolls

This swap was for the ATC's for All forum.  This swap was open and mixed media. This meant we could draw, paint, collage or sew.  Assemblage, mixed media, paper, fabric, clay, icicle, spirit and stump dolls were all acceptable.  The challenge was to create secret people of the forest.  I used a fiber wrapped method over a wire armature, a polymer clay push molded face, and finishing touches of felt, paper and ribbon flowers with silk leaves for wings to create my woodland fairy sprite type creatures.
